Our Approach
A framework for teaching AI literacy honestly
We're not interested in fear-based takes on AI, or uncritical hype either. Our approach is grounded in research, built for students, and honest about what AI can and can't do fairly.

Workshops & Curriculum
Hands-on sessions and downloadable lesson plans that walk students through how AI models are trained, where their data comes from, and how bias can quietly take root along the way.
Discussion & Research Circles
Small-group, student-led conversations grounded in published research on AI bias — giving young people real vocabulary and frameworks, not just opinions.
School & Community Partnerships
Working directly with teachers, clubs, and student organizations to bring this content into classrooms and communities that don't have it yet.

How we structure a workshop
Every session follows the same core arc, whether it's a single afternoon or a multi-week program.

Start with a real system
We look at an actual AI tool students already use or recognize — not an abstract example.

Unpack the data behind it
Where did the training data come from, and whose experiences does — or doesn't — it represent?

Discuss who's affected
Students connect the technical to the human — who benefits, who's overlooked, and why it matters.

Reflect & take action
Students leave with questions to ask of any AI tool — and often, ideas for their own projects.
Research on AI systems has repeatedly shown that models can reflect and even amplify the biases present in the data used to train them — from facial recognition to hiring tools to content recommendations. Most students interact with these systems daily, but few are ever taught to recognize this. That's the gap we're built to close.
